Bow River and the Hoodoos

It was a beautiful Sunday morning and we decided that our first hike would be the Bow River trail and the Hoodoos.  The trail started from just outside of town.  We passed over a quaint bridge overlooking a river, and then crossed back on a newer bridge a little further down after we realized we had taken a wrong turn.

We had not gone far when I realized that I was being targeted by mosquitoes.  We carried on.

After a ways, we came across a beach.  Not only was it pretty, but it also offered a reprieve from the hounding mosquitoes.

Further up, we found a meadow, with various flowers and butterflies.

Our (mis)guide(d) book told us how nice the trail is to the hoodoos, so we braved the mosquitos and continued.
It was a long trek and Akemi was spent.  We were all getting hungry.

Hoodoos to the left

The trail to the hoodoos was as unspectacular as the hoodoos themselves.  There was supposed to be a bus that went from the hoodoos back to town, but none were to be seen, so we started walking along the road.  I was carrying Akemi on my shoulders.  We came to a fork where we could either continue down the mountain road or to go down some stairs.  Akemi wanted to try the stairs, so we did.  The stairs let us immediately back into town and across the street from our hotel.  That was a well needed shortcut!

This trail was a good trail to start with and had interesting, diverse scenery.  If I were to do it again, I would not continue up to the hoodoos.
