Luckily we had done our on-line boarding the night before because the faces in snaking line were looking desperate. The trick was trying to find the line up for check-in luggage. There seemed to be lines and sub-lines intertwined and leading to unknown other lines. We deftly weaved our way to a line which seemed to go to a hidden sign for luggage drop off. When we were near the front of the line, there was a WestJet person directing random people to the front of the line, ignoring all other lines. The people jumping queue were bewildered and embarrassed to be fast-tracked without any apparent reason. We were still early so it was no biggie, but the lack of any organization or logic was comical.
After we checked our luggage we went to get some "breakfast". I ordered something that looked tasty on the menu board, but when I bit into it, it was half frozen. Silvina said that the coffee was undrinkable. We went through the security check and over to our gate. Funny that before the security gate there were only no-name crappy eating places, but after the security gate there were many more options.
Our flight was delayed by two hours, but we eventually arrived in Calgary and started our real vacation. These are some pictures on the road to Banff from Calgary. We took highway 1A because the information person told us it was more scenic. It was exciting to see the mountains in the distance. As we got closer, they got bigger and bigger. Behind each curve was anticipation. We imagined some traces of the flooding that happened the month earlier, but the buildings along the road near Canmore looked sound.
